Crocodile Bank :
(44 kms) Not far from Mamallapuram, this crocodile breeding and research center is run by the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust. Here several species of Indian crocodiles and alligators from around the world are bred in captivity. These reptiles are kept in their natural habitat in open pools and can be viewed from a safe proximity. This farm breeds crocodiles to augment the crocodil population of wildlife sanctuaries. Dakshina Chitra :
True to its tradition of preserving its rich cultural heritage, Tamil Nadu can boast of an Art Village otherwise called Dakshina Chitra, near Muttukkadu on the way to Mamallapuram. Founded by the Madras Craft Foundation, Dakshina Chitra has models of traditional handlooms and the replicas of the houses of Kancheepuram Silk Weavers.

The craftsmen and the weavers are at work demonstrating their skill and dexterity. To the joy of demonstrations. The center showcases the heritage of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.

Muttukadu :
(36 kms) : This is an ideal picnic spot. T.T.D.C. runs a Bat House where facilites for boating and wind surfing are available.
