Deeg :

The summer retreat of the maharajas of Bharatpur, this fortified complex with its water fountains and monsoon palaces, where the sound of thunder was recreated through elaborate machinery hidden in the roofs, are an ideal way to spend the day. The gardens are reasonably well maintained and the marble apartments are cool inside. 36 kms. from Bharatpur.

Sisodia Rani Ka Bag, Jaipur :

On the outskirts of Jaipur, the narrow valley towards Agra breaches its way through a road that passes by Sisodia Rani ka Bagh, a summer retreat built for one of the Mewar princesses married in the Jaipur family. Charming pavilions and terraced gardens are part of its attraction. On the opposite side, Vidyadharji ka Bagh is another quiet retreat. Both places can be booked for picnics or private parties.

Nahargarh, Jaipur :

This hilltop fort (600 feet above the city) was where the zenana of the Jaipur family would move in the summer and monsoon months. And with very good reason. The views are superb, and there is an air of tranquillity. Most people come here as day-trippers.

Saheliyon Ki Bari, Udaipur :

A charming garden with pavilions, water channels and fountains, and gardens arranged at different levels, this is an ideal retreat from the city.
