Kulljapuri :
The temple of Kunjapuri is one of the three Siddha Peeths dedicated to Sati, the wife of Lord Shiva. The others two being Surkanda Devi & Chandrabadni. The legend has it that when Sati, daughter of Daksha Prajapat, immolated herself at the sacrificial spot, Lord Shiva took the dead body of his wife & started walking towards the Himalaya.
The places where the parts of her body fell are known as Kunjapuri, Surkanda & Chandrabadni & are thus worshipped as Siddha Peeths.

The temple of Kunjapuri, clearly visible from Rishikesh, is surrounded by the eternal Himalayas. ocated at an altitude of 1643m it lends a panoramic view of the Himalaya peaks to the north & Rishikesh, Haridwar & the Doon Valley to the south. Travelling towards Gangotri, about 6km from Narendra Nagar the road bifurcates at Hindola Khal, leading to the shrine, which is 3km further. A week long fair is held here during Durga-Ashtami-Navratras (April &C October) every year when grand celebrations are held.

Kaudiyala :
As the Ganga gradients are ideal for river rafting, GMVN & scores of other private operators listed on pg. 106 have provided essential rafting facilities at Kaudivala, 36 km on Rishikesh-Badrinath road. A walk along the river is a real treat, as one can see majestic wildlife enjoying its natural habitat.

Narendra Nagar :
16 km, a picturesque hill resorttowm on way to Kunjapuri was once the capital of the old state ofTehri offers a fine view of the Ganga and beautiful Doon Valley. The sunset view from here is particularly attractive.

Shivpuri :
13km from Rishikesk, on the Rishikesh-Badrinath route is Shivpuri, a picturesque tourist destination it is now famous for River Rafting, Kayaking &c other Water Sports. At an altitude of 330m the place is crowded with adventure seekers coming here for river rafting from Oct. to April.
